以賽亞書 35：5-10

5 那時，失明的能看見，耳聾的能聽到，
6 跛腳的能像鹿跳躍，啞巴能歌唱。
曠野將湧出大水；荒漠將流出甘泉。
7 灼熱的沙漠將變成池塘；旱地將有水源。
野狗盤踞的地方要長出青草和蘆葦。
8 將有一條大道，要稱為「聖潔之路」。
罪人不能走這條路；愚昧人不能在這路上徘徊。
9 那地方沒有獅子，也沒有野獸。
上主拯救的人，要從這一條大路回家。
10 蒙上主救贖的人要回到耶路撒冷，興高采烈地歡呼歌唱。
他們要歡欣快樂，不再憂愁悲傷。

5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped;
6 And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it as a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim, but the LORD will lay low his pompous pride together with the skill of his hands.
7 And the high fortifications of his walls he will bring down, lay low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.
8 And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray.
9 No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk there.
10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

野狗與蒲草的對比
野狗是大草原與沙漠的動物，散布於貧瘠的地帶（瑪一3）。在以賽亞的異象中，花園取代了曾是曠野的地區，這些野生肉食動物的生息地將要變為像胡列谷一樣的濕地（見四十三20）。這里經年濕潤，草與蒲草可以生長（見：伯八11～13；賽十九5～6）。
