耶利米書9章10-16節

9:10 我說：我要為山岡悲鳴哀號，為草原唱一首輓歌；因為它們被燒成焦土，再沒有人走過，也沒有牛羊的聲音，連飛鳥走獸都絕跡。
9:11 上主說：我要使耶路撒冷荒廢，成為野狗的窩；我要使猶大各城鎮荒涼，再沒有人居住。
9:12 我問：「上主啊，為什麼這土地荒廢，像沙漠乾旱，沒有人煙呢？誰夠聰明，能明白這道理呢？你曾向誰說明，使他能向別人解釋呢？」
9:13 上主回答：「這是因為我的子民背棄了我的教訓，不聽從我的話，不實行我的命令。
9:14 他們一意孤行，隨從祖先的教訓去拜巴力。
9:15 所以，我—上主、萬軍的統帥、以色列的上帝這樣宣布：我要使我子民吃苦果，喝毒水。
9:16 我要流放他們到各國，到他們祖先和自己都沒聽過的地方去。我要驅使敵軍追趕他們，把他們全都滅絕。」

9:10 “I will take up weeping and wailing for the mountains, and a lamentation for the pastures of the wilderness, because they are laid waste so that no one passes through, and the lowing of cattle is not heard; both the birds of the air and the beasts have fled and are gone.
9:11 I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, a lair of jackals, and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant.”
9:12 Who is the man so wise that he can understand this? To whom has the mouth of the LORD spoken, that he may declare it? Why is the land ruined and laid waste like a wilderness, so that no one passes through?
9:13 And the LORD says: “Because they have forsaken my law that I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice or walked in accord with it,
9:14 but have stubbornly followed their own hearts and have gone after the Baals, as their fathers taught them.
9:15 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will feed this people with bitter food, and give them poisonous water to drink.
9:16 I will scatter them among the nations whom neither they nor their fathers have known, and I will send the sword after them, until I have consumed them.”
今天的經文中，9:10 誰是講者是一個疑問。有些譯本認為 9:10 為耶利米為猶大悲哀，也有人認為是神為猶大悲哀。 9:11 則很明確是神說話。不過也有學者認為上帝的悲痛是透過耶利米的角色來表達出來，我們也不能很清楚的分出上帝與耶利米的發言角色。
