耶利米書10章11-16節

10:11 我的子民哪，你們要向他們宣告，偶像不是創造天地的神，一定會被消滅，從天地間消失。
10:12 上主以大能創造大地，以智慧建立世界，以聰明展開天空。
10:13 他一發令，天空上的水就澎湃；他使雲朵從地平線浮現。他使閃電在雨中發光，使風從自己的倉庫吹出。
10:14 這景象使人自覺愚蠢無知；金匠對自己造的偶像失望，因為他們造的神明虛假，沒有生命。
10:15 偶像毫無價值，荒謬可笑；上主對付它們的時候，它們都要消滅。
10:16 雅各的上帝不像這些偶像：他創造萬物，選召以色列作他自己的子民。他的名是上主—萬軍的統帥！

10:11 Thus shall you say to them: “The gods who did not make the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under the heavens.”
10:12 It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.
10:13 When he utters his voice, there is a tumult of waters in the heavens, and he makes the mist rise from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and he brings forth the wind from his storehouses.
10:14 Every man is stupid and without knowledge; every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols, for his images are false, and there is no breath in them.
10:15 They are worthless, a work of delusion; at the time of their punishment they shall perish.
10:16 Not like these is he who is the portion of Jacob, for he is the one who formed all things, and Israel is the tribe of his inheritance; the LORD of hosts is his name.
今天的經文中，描述當造物者一有動作，偶像與雕刻偶像的人就顯出自己的愚昧與無能。今天的經文中，10:11 是亞蘭文寫成。「他們」可能指異教的神明或敬拜異教神明的人，這些人可能只懂得亞蘭文，不懂希伯來文。舊約聖經中用亞蘭文寫的經文有 創 31:47 耶 10:11 但 2:4-7:28 拉 4:12-16 拉 7:12-26 。
