耶利米書10章17-25節

10:17 被圍困的耶路撒冷人哪，你們要收拾自己的東西。
10:18 上主要把你們拋出這土地；他要把你們壓得粉碎，連一個殘存的也沒有。上主這樣宣布了。
10:19 耶路撒冷人大聲哀號：哎呀，我們受的傷多麼嚴重，然而這是我們必須忍受的痛苦。
10:20 我們的帳棚被毀壞，帳棚的繩索都斷了。兒女離開我們走了；再沒有人來支搭帳棚，也沒有人再把幔子掛起來。
10:21 我回答說：我們的領袖都很愚蠢；他們不尋求上主。因此，他們失敗，人民流亡。
10:22 聽吧，謠言滿天飛！北方的國家有大騷動，它的軍隊使猶大各城鎮荒涼，成為野狗的窩。
10:23 上主啊，我知道沒有人能操縱自己的命運；沒有人能掌握自己的前途。
10:24 上主啊，求你從寬管教我們；求你不要在烈怒下消滅我們。
10:25 求你把烈怒傾瀉在不敬畏你的列國，在不承認你的人身上。因為他們殺害了你的子民；他們滅絕我們，使我們的家園荒廢。

10:17 Gather up your bundle from the ground, O you who dwell under siege!
10:18 For thus says the LORD: “Behold, I am slinging out the inhabitants of the land at this time, and I will bring distress on them, that they may feel it.”
10:19 Woe is me because of my hurt! My wound is grievous. But I said, “Truly this is an affliction, and I must bear it.”
10:20 My tent is destroyed, and all my cords are broken; my children have gone from me, and they are not; there is no one to spread my tent again and to set up my curtains.
10:21 For the shepherds are stupid and do not inquire of the LORD; therefore they have not prospered, and all their flock is scattered.
10:22 A voice, a rumor! Behold, it comes!— a great commotion out of the north country to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a lair of jackals.
10:23 I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.
10:24 Correct me, O LORD, but in justice; not in your anger, lest you bring me to nothing.
10:25 Pour out your wrath on the nations that know you not, and on the peoples that call not on your name, for they have devoured Jacob; they have devoured him and consumed him, and have laid waste his habitation.
今天的經文述說猶大人被擄的遭遇即將來臨。10:25與詩篇79:6-7幾乎完全一致，猶太人於逾越節的禮儀中，都要背誦這段經文。耶利米可能引自現有的詩篇禱告文。
上主的處罰已經臨近，因為知道這是處罰，所以先知認為必須忍受（雖然百姓難免怨懟），但他也求上帝不要處罰過度導致整個民族滅亡，並且求上帝終究是為以色列伸冤。
