耶利米書11章14-17節

11:14 耶利米呀，不要替他們哀求，也不要向我祈禱。他們遭難的時候向我求助，我不聽。」
11:15 上主說：「我所愛的子民既然罪大惡極，還有什麼權利到我的聖殿來呢？他們以為許願、獻牲祭就能消災嗎？他們以為這樣做就能快樂嗎？
11:16 我曾經稱他們為枝葉茂盛、果實纍纍的好橄欖樹，但現在我要像閃電一樣燒光它的葉子，折斷它的枝子。
11:17 「我—上主、萬軍的統帥栽種了以色列和猶大，但現在我要降災難給他們。他們作惡，自己招惹了這災禍；他們向巴力獻牲祭，激怒了我。」

11:14 “Therefore do not pray for this people, or lift up a cry or prayer on their behalf, for I will not listen when they call to me in the time of their trouble.
11:15 What right has my beloved in my house, when she has done many vile deeds? Can even sacrificial flesh avert your doom? Can you then exult?
11:16 The LORD once called you ‘a green olive tree, beautiful with good fruit.’ But with the roar of a great tempest he will set fire to it, and its branches will be consumed.
11:17 The LORD of hosts, who planted you, has decreed disaster against you, because of the evil that the house of Israel and the house of Judah have done, provoking me to anger by making offerings to Baal.”
今天的經文中，上主禁止耶利米替百姓祈求，因為百姓已經行了眾多的惡行，獻祭敬拜也沒效，上主一定要反過來降禍攻擊。特別在15節中，主要說明猶大行了惡，卻想藉禮儀而不是改變內心行為的方式想要表面上的取悅上主，因此上主明確地拒絕他們假虔敬。
