耶利米書13章12-14節

13:12 上主—以色列的上帝這樣對我說：「耶利米呀，你要吩咐以色列人：把每一個酒缸都盛滿酒。他們要回答：『我們知道每一個酒缸要盛滿酒。』
13:13 你再告訴他們：我—上主要用酒灌醉這地方所有的居民；大衛王朝的君王、祭司、先知，和耶路撒冷的居民都要喝醉了酒。
13:14 我要粉碎他們，使他們不論老少彼此衝突，好像酒缸相碰撞一樣。我絕不憐憫他們，不愛惜他們，也不同情他們；我一定要滅絕他們。」

13:12 “You shall speak to them this word: ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, “Every jar shall be filled with wine.”’ And they will say to you, ‘Do we not indeed know that every jar will be filled with wine?’
13:13 Then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD: Behold, I will fill with drunkenness all the inhabitants of this land: the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
13:14 And I will dash them one against another, fathers and sons together, declares the LORD. I will not pity or spare or have compassion, that I should not destroy them.’”
今天此處以及其他先知書中都有章節論到上帝把祂忿怒的酒杯交給以色列或其他國家，使他們可以喝，直到酒醉不省人事（耶 25:15-17 ； 賽 51:17 ），這是一種講到「上帝審判」之真實性的生動說法。這可能是這段在這裏的意義，或者這段經文只是試圖描述百姓都酩酊大醉，不能照上帝所要求的方式行事為人。
