耶利米書16章14-21節

16:14 上主說：「瞧吧，時候將到，人發誓的時候不再說：『我指著那帶領以色列人出埃及的永生上主發誓』，
16:15 卻要說：『我指著那帶領以色列人離開北方土地，將他們從被放逐到的各國帶回來的永生上主發誓。』因為我要帶領他們返回故鄉，回到我賜給他們祖先的土地。我—上主這樣宣布了。」
16:16 上主說：「我要差派許多漁夫來捕捉這些人，又要差派許多獵人到大小山岡和巖石洞穴獵取他們。
16:17 我看見了他們所做的一切；他們的罪惡都在我眼前，無法隱藏。
16:18 我要使他們因自己的邪惡和罪過受加倍的懲罰；因為他們膜拜那些毫無生氣、像死屍一樣的偶像，汙染了我的土地。他們用可憎的假神塞滿這地方。」
16:19 上主啊，你是我的力量和堡壘；你是我危難時的避難所。列國要從世界各角落來到你面前，說：「我們的祖先只拜假神，只拜毫無用處的偶像。
16:20 人能為自己造神明嗎？即使造了，它們也不是真神。」
16:21 上主說：「所以，這一次我一定要使列國知道我的大能大力；他們就知道我是上主。」

16:14 “Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when it shall no longer be said, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’
16:15 but ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.’ For I will bring them back to their own land that I gave to their fathers.
16:16 “Behold, I am sending for many fishers, declares the LORD, and they shall catch them. And afterward I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks.
16:17 For my eyes are on all their ways. They are not hidden from me, nor is their iniquity concealed from my eyes.
16:18 But first I will doubly repay their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable idols, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations.”
16:19 O LORD, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to you shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: “Our fathers have inherited nothing but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit.
16:20 Can man make for himself gods? Such are not gods!”
16:21 “Therefore, behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the LORD.”
今天的經文，上帝要報應猶大人的罪孽，但是祂還要把以色列人拯救回來，因為上帝要透過這個機會證明自己是真神。在神審判的聲浪中，神再次提到祂曾救他們脫離埃及，如今仍可以。在這裡神暗示猶大雖被棄，但祂仍會領他們從北方(巴比倫)出來。先知的信息通常都是審判和希望交錯，因為這段話的出現似乎是為了平衡以放逐威脅作結之上一段令人畏懼之嚴厲。
