耶利米書17章1-4節

17:1 上主說：「猶大的人民哪，你們的罪過是用鐵筆寫的，是用鑽石針刻在你們心裡，雕刻在你們祭壇角上的。
17:2 你們境內的每一棵綠樹下，每一座小山和原野的大山上，都有為女神亞舍拉建造的祭壇和神柱。你們竟膜拜這些祭壇和神柱。因為你們在全國各地犯罪，我要使你們的敵人掠奪你們的財寶。
17:3 併於上節
17:4 你們必須放棄我賜給你們的土地；我要把你們流放到陌生地方作敵人的奴隸。你們激怒了我，我的怒火燃燒，永不熄滅。」

17:1 “The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron; with a point of diamond it is engraved on the tablet of their heart, and on the horns of their altars,
17:2 while their children remember their altars and their Asherim, beside every green tree and on the high hills,
17:3 on the mountains in the open country. Your wealth and all your treasures I will give for spoil as the price of your high places for sin throughout all your territory.
17:4 You shall loosen your hand from your heritage that I gave to you, and I will make you serve your enemies in a land that you do not know, for in my anger a fire is kindled that shall burn forever.”
今天的經文中，先知描述猶大的罪惡將導致他們被擄離開應許之地。「銘刻在他們的心版上」就像是結11:19，結36:26，伯19:24 「石心」之喻來形容猶大人罪惡之深以及心有多硬到必須用極硬的書寫工具來銘刻於其上。
