耶利米書18章13-17節

18:13 因此，上主這樣說：你們問一問列國，誰聽過這樣的事呢？以色列人民做了非常可惡的事。
18:14 黎巴嫩山巖上的積雪融化過嗎？山上清涼的澗水乾涸過嗎？
18:15 然而，我的子民忘記了我；他們向偶像燒香。他們在該走的路上絆倒，不再走那古道；他們走上沒有路標的小徑。
18:16 他們把這塊土地變成恐怖的地方，永遠被人唾棄；過路人看見了都驚駭搖頭。
18:17 我要在敵人面前驅散我的子民，像東風吹散灰塵。災難來臨的時候，我要轉身不理他們。

18:13 “Therefore thus says the LORD: Ask among the nations, Who has heard the like of this? The virgin Israel has done a very horrible thing.
18:14 Does the snow of Lebanon leave the crags of Sirion? Do the mountain waters run dry, the cold flowing streams?
18:15 But my people have forgotten me; they make offerings to false gods; they made them stumble in their ways, in the ancient roads, and to walk into side roads, not the highway,
18:16 making their land a horror, a thing to be hissed at forever. Everyone who passes by it is horrified and shakes his head.
18:17 Like the east wind I will scatter them before the enemy. I will show them my back, not my face, in the day of their calamity.”
今天的經文，「古道」，就是在上帝與他們的約中，在上帝為他們計畫的大路上跌倒了；他們離開了這條大道，轉到一條無法到達終點的泥濘小路。多反常啊，而且人人似乎都知道這一點。只有以色列人不知道。
