耶利米書19章14-20章2節

19:14 於是我離開了陀斐特，就是上主差我去宣布這信息的地方。我來到聖殿，站在院中向群眾宣布
19:15 上主—萬軍的統帥、以色列的上帝所說的話。他說：「我要照我說過的話降大災難在這城和周圍村莊，因為你們頑固不聽從我的話。」
20:1 音麥的兒子，聖殿總監巴施戶耳祭司一聽見我宣布這些話，
20:2 就毆打我，把我囚禁在聖殿北面的便雅憫門。

19:14 Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the court of the LORD’s house and said to all the people:
19:15 “Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, behold, I am bringing upon this city and upon all its towns all the disaster that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their neck, refusing to hear my words.”
20:1 Now Pashhur the priest, the son of Immer, who was chief officer in the house of the LORD, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things.
20:2 Then Pashhur beat Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the upper Benjamin Gate of the house of the LORD.
今天的經文是描述耶利米在聖殿中繼續傳達上帝要毀滅耶路撒冷的信息，結果被聖殿總監拘禁。不管巴施戶耳的動機究竟為何，也不管他是因為職責所在還是他自己也討厭耶利米（他隔天就放耶利米出來，可能也不敢關耶利米太久），但這個人就成為上帝傳達信息的一個媒介。
