耶利米書20章7-13節

20:7 上主啊，你愚弄了我；我上了你的當。你比我強大，你勝過我。人人都戲弄我；他們整天把我當作笑柄。
20:8 我每次開口，都要大聲喊叫，高喊著：暴力！毀滅！上主啊，我宣布你的信息，總是招惹譏諷、藐視。
20:9 但當我說：我不再提起上主，不再奉他的名宣講，你的話就像火在我心中焚燒，鑽進我的骨髓。我憋不住你在我心中的話；我不得不說出來。
20:10 我聽見許多人的耳語：那謠傳「四圍恐怖」的來了，我們來告發他！連我知己的朋友都等著看我身敗名裂。他們說：讓他上鉤吧，我們就抓住他，向他報復。
20:11 但是上主啊，你與我同在；你強大有力，威武可畏。壓迫我的人都要失敗；他們的陰謀敗露了。他們將永遠蒙羞；人永遠忘不了他們的恥辱。
20:12 但上主—萬軍的統帥呀，你按公道判斷；你透視人的心腸。求你讓我看見你報復我的敵人，因為我把我的案情交給你。
20:13 要歌頌上主！要頌讚上主！他從邪惡人手中搶救被壓迫的人。

20:7 O LORD, you have deceived me, and I was deceived; you are stronger than I, and you have prevailed. I have become a laughingstock all the day; everyone mocks me.
20:8 For whenever I speak, I cry out, I shout, “Violence and destruction!” For the word of the LORD has become for me a reproach and derision all day long.
20:9 If I say, “I will not mention him, or speak any more in his name,” there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.
20:10 For I hear many whispering. Terror is on every side! “Denounce him! Let us denounce him!” say all my close friends, watching for my fall. “Perhaps he will be deceived; then we can overcome him and take our revenge on him.”
20:11 But the LORD is with me as a dread warrior; therefore my persecutors will stumble; they will not overcome me. They will be greatly shamed, for they will not succeed. Their eternal dishonor will never be forgotten.
20:12 O LORD of hosts, who tests the righteous, who sees the heart and the mind, let me see your vengeance upon them, for to you have I committed my cause.
20:13 Sing to the LORD; praise the LORD! For he has delivered the life of the needy from the hand of evildoers.
今天的經文，先知埋怨自己的景況，咒詛自己的生命。
有些人或許會對於耶利米這樣的情緒轉變以及受言人的更換感到混淆；但在聖經中類似的禱告和埋怨其實也蠻常見的，例如詩 22 大衛在危難時的祈禱。
