耶利米書25章27-29節

25:27 接著，上主對我說：「你要告訴他們，我—上主、萬軍的統帥、以色列的上帝命令他們喝這杯裡的酒，讓他們喝醉，嘔吐，跌倒，再也爬不起來，因為我使他們遭遇戰禍。
25:28 如果他們不肯從你手上接下那杯，你就告訴他們：上主—萬軍的統帥這樣說：他們非喝這杯不可。
25:29 我要先毀滅我自己的城，他們還逃得了懲罰嗎？他們逃不了的，一定要受懲罰，因為我要用戰爭消滅地上所有的居民。我—上主、萬軍的統帥這樣宣布了。

25:27 “Then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink, be drunk and vomit, fall and rise no more, because of the sword that I am sending among you.’
25:28 “And if they refuse to accept the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: You must drink!
25:29 For behold, I begin to work disaster at the city that is called by my name, and shall you go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, for I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth, declares the LORD of hosts.’
今天的經文，上帝宣告列國都要喝憤怒的杯，因為祂由自己的城先懲罰，所以其他國家也將一起被審判懲罰。此處顯出上帝的公義，祂不偏袒自己的子民，反倒先處罰自己的子民，這樣其他國家還有什麼可以說？因此我們雖然是祂的子民，可是「審判要從神的家起首」 彼前 4:17 。
