以賽亞書 26: 20 – 21

20 我的同胞們，進你們的屋子裡去吧！關上門，暫時躲藏起來，直到上帝的怒氣消失。
21 上主要從天上的住所降臨，懲罰世人的罪。人間的凶殺都要暴露；大地不再掩埋被殺的人的屍體。

第20節的描述，有如昔日耶和華把挪亞關在方舟中，也像以色列人在埃及時躲在家中避過滅命的天使一樣（出十二22）。這里描述的審判（21節，二十七1）有如二十四章21節，是包括一切的；那里「高處的眾軍」與這里的「鱷魚」互相呼應（參啟十二7-9的龍和祂的使者）。
這里所用之罕見形容詞：「快行」、「曲行」，正是古迦南的巴力詩歌中用來形容「海怪」的，在故事中，巴力殺了「海中的大魚」。這里借用迦南的神話來表達神的真理，也藉這表達瓦解異教信仰。這里跟五十一章9至10節的上下文意都是描述神的審判，並非像迦南神話所說，創造的神必須先把敵對的眾神除去，方可重造一個有秩序的世界。
